Dick Garrelts (70)

The Class of 70 Committee is hosting a Rowdy Night Out at Cunningham's on Saturday, Jan 28th, 6:00 pm.  A social night out with old friends is in order after what seems to be a long winter already.  Our goal is to organize a reunion for the upcoming February 18th Original Rowdy Nite in the new gym. Please bring your ideas and suggestions, and don't worry, we won't be asking for money.... yet.

Hope to see you next Saturday.  KHS Class of 1970

K.  It's actually easier to be *living art* than it is to be an Artist.

UPDATE ON  OLD KHS   We  had  avery successful  auction of  the excess items  on  Saturday.  Now  our plans are  to  finnish  preparing  for  the demolition  of about half of the existing building and do the  interior  remodeling  work. The  estimated  completion date  is Sept 2018 (think  about this date and  how it relates to  our class)    Monte

If you haven't gotten the word yet - TONIGHT is ORIGINAL ROWDY NITE in the new gym.  Join the Original Rowdy, Bob Elliott, along with the 69ers and Class of 70 as we celebrate the tradition.

For your convenience, come to Central Auto Electric (10 E 25th) at 6:00 for a nip and carpool to the game. Parking is in the lot north of the shop. Use the alley.   Or on your own, the Boys Varsity begins at 7:00.

We'll gather upstairs at Cunningham's after the game.

It will be a fun night out with old friends, and a chance to show off that Original Rowdy T-shirt again. Hope to see you tonight.

We had a Great Rowdy Nite!  Kudos to Mole for both instigating and perpetuating the rebellion. Next year will be even bigger and better. Ain't it great to still be young and irresponsible!  Now if we could just stay on our parents' insurance until age 66... then on the Kid's after that!

Forgive me, Father.  It's been 40 days since my last post.  Longer than that for a 69er. Did you all give it up for Lent?  Thought I might just as well get the 8570 post. The 70ers are at 7197. We're gonna catch up to you...

Throw three Hail Marys, drink one Bloody Mary and your sins will be forgiven my son. If you ever do catch up to the 69er's you will just have to wait for us to show you what to do next. Go in Peace!

Lovely summer here.  Hope all goes well for everyone else. I would mention how a certain baseball team is doing, but I do not want to jinx them.  Medias Rojas

Anyone remember the Drive in movie playing on our graduation night?

Any exciting plans for the Solar Eclipse? Trekking back to Nebraska?

Mary Louise Steffens (Nelson)

Hello to all my fellow 69'ers!

It's been some time since I last posted.  Quite some time....   It's not that I haven't thought of you all, because I have, often!  My siblings and I have finally finished cleaning out mom's house full of some 60 years of memories.  It took a full year of working, packing, sorting and tossing!  We worked every weekend, every holiday, every vacation.  And still there are boxes and trunks in my basement! Boxes and trunks in my garage!   Many of you have already gone through this process. I want to tell you that I'm sorry I wasn't there for you.  I should have shown up at your door with a plate of cookies, a hug, and an empty box to help you fill. Some of you did this for me and I was reduced to tears of gratefulness. For those of you still blessed with the presence of your parents, treasure your time left, and call me when you need a hug and a box.  Oh, and cookies too!

Now that I'm retired, I've GOT to figure out how to change my photo!

Mary Louise,  You live by your words, and I thank you again for coming to Mom's services in Hastings. It was wonderful to see a familiar face as several of the people there I had never met before.  It was so thoughtful of you and Pat, and I am sorry that you left before we got a chance to talk.  I understand what you are going through, as I also am going through Mom's life's accumulations.  It is definately a learning experience, as I look around my own house at all the "stuff".  Purge and simplify will be my new mantra for sure!   Wishing you all the best!   Susie

I am only guessing, but I think people check this site and do not post. So, if you are one of those, just drop a note to let me know you are out there. I have mentioned to a few people that our next reunion is getting closer day by day. I also check the class of 1970 web site and they are gaining on us in the number of posts being made. Will be a sad day if they pass us. They also have fewer classmates in their  "location unknown" section than we do.  I would like to try to fix that. Anyone want to help me with this effort?

Brownie

P.S. Candi, are you now the one that can see who is reading our web site?

10/20/17 09:23 AM #8579

Linette Dobberstein (Horn)

I do check out site  occasionally, but rarely  post. My husband and I both retired at the end of June so have been keeping busy doing things we just couldn'the seem to get done when we were working. And have done some traveling. One a work team with our church, another to Mike's brother and one to Kearney to visit with family. Ya'll take care and enjoy the fall season.wink

I have to admit that I am also one that only occasionally checks this website, yet I do appreciate having it.  Let me know if there is a way I can help find more of our lost members.  I have it on my radar to get a group of area classmates together after the first of the year to begin thinking about our 50th reunion.  It's so hard to believe that 2019 isn't that far away!!

Brownie, If your Classmates would click on "unknown" they get a list.  I'll bet somebody knows about some of them, or has a connection to find out. Check the phone book, Google, Facebook, etc. It's kind of hard to hide if they're on social media.  Retirees, Take a look around when you're at Long John Silver's in the middle of the afternoon, or getting hair plugs. You might see somebody you recognize.

I can't believe there are 10 months of posts on this one page.  BTW, Brownie,  The difference is now 965.  Thanks for your 2 posts on our site!

Ooops!   I just made it 966.
