That photo Brownie posted of Beggar's Opera moves me to post an appreciation to Denny Morrison's parents, Art and Naomi. We practiced (loudly and incessantly) in their basement and they even financed our equipment. It took us two years of prom gigs, parties and part-time jobs to pay them back. I wish they could hear my thanks now; I'm not sure we quite appreciated what they did for us at the time.

Might want to check near future lodging reservations in Kearney for impact by flooding.

Holiday Inn Express should be #1 on your list to call for a room, i have been told.  500 rooms have been impacted by current July flooding, but I am not sure when all will be recovered.  ASAP ON THE CALL.

If you look at lodging in Kearney, most of it is located in or very near the flood impacted area. The north channel of the Platte River runs right by the Interstate on the north side.  I never paid attention to this before now, but I know flood plains.  Maybe the reunion people can provide input on this.  Someone told me to pass this along, so I am.

Wow, really sorry to see that much of Kearney under water!  Any classmates flooded out?  Will they have the Holiday Inn venue up and running in time for the reunion?

We are really not sure yet about the status of the Holiday Inn but are actively working to find out...stay tuned!

Our bridge on our road has been flooded both storms. National weather service featured a pic of iit.Crops are affected where flooding occurred. We had almost 9inches fall in one evening. Kearney proper has damage that won't show up for awhile. As far as Holiday Inn,people were evacuated in such a hurry, didn't even have shoes on. Their vehicles sat under water, so sad. Bused to College, filled Centennial tower and part of another. Food and housing provided. Radio

Received an email that our reservation was cancelled at the Hampton Inn... it said they would not be open again until September 9th.

Lots of prayers for all those hurt by the floods.  You don't know how homesick you are until disasters hit the town that will always be your home and the people you love.

Sorry I won't be able to be at the reunion this time.  When I retire in a year or two, I'll head back home for good.

I made reservations yesterday at Microtel by Wyndham. They had no flooding and had a few rooms still available.

We got a reservation at the Holiday Inn Express yesterday and still have another at the Holiday Inn we will cancel when we can get through on the phone. Problem we faced in Texas after the flooding was the mold!!!  We are just heartbroken to hear all the damage...but Nebraskans are strong people...we are so looking forward to the reunion  I’m thinking if the Holiday Inn is unable to provide dinner...we can BBQ hamburgers ❤️

Thanks for the tips! I was able to book the Holiday Inn express today as well... Hub today quoted 5-8 weeks out for most of the affected hotels

The Kearney Visitors Bureau has a list of open hotels that you can check if you need to change your original plans for the reunion.

She did tell me that The Days Inn, Country Inn and Suites and Best West Inn and Suites were taking reservations. Good Luck to all and looking forward to seeing you all at the reunion!:)

The chicken coop is holding events for those who had reservations elsewhere for banquets. Class of 89 just had their reunion there this past weekend. Radio praying for no rain!

Might not want to publicize that I am the emcee.  Start out saying Bunny Estabrook is filling that slot and then we'll pull the old switcheroo at the last minute.  And the part about guaranteed good time?? We need to make sure there is something in the fine print that it is not a MONEY back guarantee.  (can't wait to see your sweet faces)

Janet Browne Rose, I beg to differ!  The only one that might be as good a draw as you is Scott Frost. I’m really looking forward to seeing everyone too. 50 years deserves a great celebration!

Janet you're better than Bunny! She hides under lectern!(Police Academy 1-100) lol! Just a heads up the coop parking lot is next to Law enforcement parking lot, and they frown on anyone impaired borrowing their vehicles by mistake! Looking forward to seeing everyone! Radio floating off.

There was talk on the morning news show that there is an app that ages a photograph of you.  Celebs and others showed their results.  I wonder if we took a high school picture of any of us and worked the aging app, we could recognise all our classmates we haven't seen in ages?
