Tim Flesner was my father.

I've read the comments some of you have written about him and though the man you knew was different in many ways from the one I loved so dearly, I recognize his spirit in your words. My father always spoke fondly of his childhood and growing up in Kearney. I feel like I know some of his friends personally from his stories. I know that many of the best times of my dad's life were spent there with you.

My father and I were very close. He was my best friend and I miss him every day of my life. I got my masters degree from UNK at his request and now I'm at the University of South Carolina getting my PhD in 20th Century Literature. My dissertation project will involve a memoir project that will ultimately be a book I hope to publish. Because my father was so influential in my life, I know that he will factor into the book greatly. He often wrote about his childhood memories as a hobby. I would like to honor him by telling his story for him--for the telling of my story cannot exist without him.

I would greatly appreciate any memories you would be willing to share with me. My father was not a perfect man, and your memories may reflect that, but he was a good, honest, and hard-working man. He made many sacrifices for his family over the years and always put us first. There was never a day in my life that I didn't know how much he loved me and I will spend the rest of my life trying to be the woman he thought I was.

If you would be willing to send anything you remember, you can email me through the link at wendyralph.com (this site is in progress and will be complete within the week) or, you can write me at the USC address I have listed.

Thank you for your generous comments. They were very touching.

All the Best,
Wendy Flesner-Ralph
