Also thank you to all the 69'ers who helped play a part in the celebration! We, of course, will be having another one in August!

You can order a special edition 50th Anniversary t-shirt from KHS which some of the proceeds will go to the new Rowdy Scholarship Fund. You can go to https://squareup.com/store/Bearcat Corner to order yours today! Thanks. Will try and put that up on my facebook page also. Forgot to mention, if you want to donate to the scholarship fund, go to the KPS Foundation website. There you can donate and even see other pictures of the event put up by Lisa Parrish.

Had to have been there . . . . 50 years. . . . .

You are correct, Brownie.  Had to been there. This was the best since the Old Barn!  Great to see all the 69ers who gave up the easy chair in front of Blue Bloods re-runs for a good time Saturday night.  You can't get this kind of entertainment at the Country Club!

50 years, Bob !!!  Great perfomance at the game, great friendships rekindled over the years, a great idea for Scholarships, and a lasting tribute to Bea, godmother of the Rowdys (with a y).

Hope to see more 69ers at next year's Rowdy Fest. It's an annual event now.

Thanks for letting the 70's belong.

Any flooding in the Kearney area? Or other areas where alums are living?   Are you staying dry Painer?

We are fine, but Pleasanton, Ravenna, Gibbon, and Wood River definitely have major issues.  We had to delay our trip back from KC by a day because of road closures.  Guess we just made it through a window of open road on I-29 north of St. Jo to Nebr. City on Friday morning before that road was closed in the afternoon...guess the crest of the Missouri must be reaching that area.  I think the crest is supposed to reach KC by Monday or so.

We have a couple of little farms north of Hwy 30 between Shelton and Wood River.  The tenants tell us they are both underwater.  The expense for us will be how much ground work will need to be done and how the pumps on the wells fared.  This, of course, is nothing compared to the losses others face.  My heart goes out to the small town residents watching their homes and businesses flood and memories wash away, and the farmers/ranchers whose livestock, buildings, equipment and livelihood have been destroyed, as well as all the lives lost.  Nebraskans have always had their share of disasters whether floods, blizzards, droughts, twisters, hail, or plagues of grasshoppers.  Maybe because most Nebraskans are accustomed to, anticipate, or have heard of such hardships throughout generations, their kindness, compassion and generosity still make it the best place to live.  My heart is with Nebraska

Well said Janet!  Wonder whether Blocher's land went under water?

Mike did not say anything about flooding around his place. Got a text from him today that his father passed yesterday at 95 years old. Burial will be in Greta, Thursday, if they can get there.

Our sentiments exactly Janet. Our prayers are with everyone. We are heartbroken but know Nebraskans will get through.

Condolences to the Blocher family.  You are in our thoughts and prayers for the loss of your Dad, and during your hardships and devastation from the floods.

Just think what could have happened...  Every Nebraskan and every Mississippi Basin resident should now appreciate your efforts to resist the Pipeline.   Well done, Mike!

Mike Blocher

Thanks to all for the condolences Cheri and I received from you guys. We are grateful for your kind thoughts. We have been so fortunate to have enjoyed my dad for so long.  We are missing him terribly, especially mom. She is ninety-six, bless her heart.

We also appreciate your concern in light of the ongoing flooding in Nebraska and Iowa. We are fine at our place with the major flooding occring ten miles north of us on the Elkhorn River. So many people have lost everything they own, including three fatalities.  Tens of thousands of all kinds of livestock were swept away, not to mention pets, feed, and crop land.  This is going to take years to overcome. Many farmers and ranchers will not be able to withstand these horrific losses. The counties in the flood areas were financially strapped before the infrastructure was ravaged. So many roads, bridges, culverts, dams, and levies were damaged or destroyed. Aid is pouring in from all over the nation. Conditions are even worse than portrayed in the news.

Most communities in the state are providing ways to get assistance to those who need it most. We strongly encourage anyone who wants to help to support their local programs with donations to help with immediate emergency items and funding. The Red Cross Nebraska flood relief fund is also accepting monetary donations which will get $$ where urgently needed.

A huge thank you to all of you who have already pitched in.

NEBRASKA STRONG!

I am looking forward to our reunion.

Just returned from Cabos San Lucas and our older son's wedding.  Posting videos of our family dance and the friends dance.  For those of you interested, both my brothers and I, along with Rick's children (girl in white and long haired guy) and my younger son (in tan suit) front are in the dance.  Don't miss Mike and Joe Baldwin and my other cousins, too.

Hey Julie, nice footage of what I'm sure was a great soiree!  Which resort?  Our family has enjoyed a time share at P.B. Sunset Beach for many years.
